SYNOPSIS: The purpose of this agenda item is to provide the City Commission with data on potable and reclaimed water use for calendar year 2017. CONSIDERATIONS: Potable Water: In 2017, the City produced 1,351,256,000 gallons of potable water, which is a 1.3% increase from 2016. We received 56 inches of rainfall in 2017; approximately the same as in 2016. The annual water use in 2017 was 17% below the St. Johns River Water Management District Consumptive Use Permit allowance of 1,627,900,000 gallons. Factors contributing to the increased water demand may include additional residential development and an increase in existing home sales. Informational 201 PAGE 1 OF 4 - February 12, 2018 Reclaimed Water: In 2017, production of reclaimed water totaled 864,582,000 gallons, which is an increase of 16% from 2016. Of this total, 690,299,000 gallons were distributed for the purpose of commercial and residential irrigation, which is an increase of 24% from 2016. Also, 174,283,000 gallons were disposed at the percolation ponds and /or sprayfields, which is a decrease in disposal of 15% from 2016.
