February 21, 1987 as Winter Springs Sertoma Day. Sertoma stands for Service to Mankind and its main services are for the people with • ir. speech and hearing problems. The Winter Springs Sertoma Club is celebrating its tenth (10) anniversary at this time. It was approximately this time of the year back in 1977 when the idea of forming a local civic organization was being thoroughly reviewed in the possibility of helping some of our residents, men, women r and children. We knew there were Lion Clubs. Rotary Clubs and ocher organizations in Seminole County but no civic organization in the City of Winter Springs. there- ' fore it was decided that a Sertoma Club would be built in our City. Through the efforts of the Winter Park Sertoma Club. the budding Winter Springs Club was formed and chartered with thirty-six (36) members as ucleus for a bigger club. Changes over the years saw w the Winter Springs Sertoma Club go from thirty-six chartered members to a .- low of sixteen. At this time there were only four ordinal members left and it became a matter of pride for the remaining members tor recruit new people. They were successful in inducting ten new members and the membership now stands at twenty-six members. The Winter Springs Sertoma Club meets every Tuesday morning at 7:30 AM in the Winter Springs Civic Center Building on North Edgemon Avenue and welcomes both men and women to visit our Club and enjoy our breakfast and attend a eeting. The Winter Springs Sertoma Club and the Winter Springs La Sertoma (women only) welcome new residents to visit our meetings and we hope they will be interested in joining either one of our organizations. • , I G s fin untneaa Astro/ .
