FLORIDA 32708 TELEPHONE (407) 327-2332 FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICES MEMORANDUM To: City Manager John Govoruhk From: Timothy J. Lallat in, Fire Chief 4 7/74,5_ Date: March 31, 1995 Subject: Fire Department Information After our Executive Session on Monday 3/27/95,I did sonic research on incentives, there had seemed to be some concern on how incentives are treated. I have also obtained additional information that may be of some help in reference to current salary ranges and overtime exempt status. The following is my analysis of the attached information. 1. PARAMEDIC INCENTIVES. All Fire Departments within Seminole County with the exception of Lake Mary Fire Department which does not provide Advanced life Support, pays incentive to anyone in the Department with the certification. The amounts paid vary, however, most Departments pay the incentive each pay period, separate from the hourly wage. 2. EXEMPT STATUS. This varies from Department, however, all Departments Exempt the Fire Chie! Deputy Fire Chief, and Assistant Fire Chief. The attached information will give you a better view of how each Department treats Exempt status. 3. PAY RANGES. The ranges in my opinion are acceptable and in line with other Departments with the exception of middle management. Those positions that are low compared to other Departments are, lieutenants, Battalion Chief, Training&EMS Chief; Fire Marshal, and Deputy Fire Chief. All other positions appear to be in line with the other Departments in this County. If any additional information is needed please inform. This information is being provided for your benefit and by no means is intended to disrupt what has already been approved by the City Commission. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. • Salary Survey for Are Departments in Seminole County, COMPLETED 3/29/1995 Position Salary Range(Min - Max) Altamonte Springs Firefighter $21641 -30,297 Engineer II $ 23,017 -32,224 Engineer I $ 23,625 -33,075 Lieutenant $ 27,285 -38,200 • Captain (1/shift Master Station Officer) $ 30,471 -42,502 " EMS Commander $ 29,583 -41,267 * Assistant Chief (previously Battalion Chief) $ 32,203 -45,084 * Deputy Chief $ 35,191 -49,267 • Fire Chief no range Paramedic Incentive $ 3,000/year, all certified paramedics receive the incentive.
