While the condition is not in the City of Winter Springs, we receive complaints due to our citizens traveling the roadway and our Police Department seen traveling the road in their normal patroling around the City. The hazard is the numerous ruts in the shoulder of SR-419 between the SR 419/ SR 434 intersection and the SR 434/Tuscawilla Road intersection. These ruts are the result of numerous vehicles driving off the roadway and immediately adjacent to the pavement. The ruts are of such a depth that once a vehicle enters it,the outside tires control the vehicle causing the driver_to_ panic or over-react. Accident reports, taken by the Florida Highway Patrol, will reveal several accidents which can be atributed to the ruts. Considering the speed limit of 50mph, with the vehicles traveling at 55mph, the possibility of a head on collision at the resulting Zl0mph impact will undoubtedly result in death. These ruts provide such a casual possibility. Your cooperation in preventing personal injury and property damage by the elimination of this hazardous condition would be greatly appreciated. Should there be any assistance needed by the City of Winter Springs in this matter, please feel free to contact me at 327-1000. The attached photographs are included to provide additional information for your use in identifying the extent of this hazard.
