THE MARKETPLACE AT OVIEDO CROSSING
WHAT IS THE OVIEDO CROSSING PROJECT?
The Oviedo Crossing project is a proposed development near the new Target store on Red
Bug Lake Road. In addition to The Marketplace, a 1.2 million sq ft mall, the project includes
office space and a Medical Campus. There will also be 167 acres of protected green areas.
WHY SHOULD SEMINOLE COUNTY SUPPORT THE PROJECT?
* Aside from having a first-class shopping center and medical facility less than 10 minutes
from our community, the Oviedo Crossing project will provide:
$4.8 million in impact fees to local governments for roads, fire and safety facilities
Over 1000 construction jobs with a payroll in excess of$58 million
Permanent jobs for 2800 people in retail, wholesale, medicine and finance with over$60 million in annual
salaries by the year 2000
By year 2000, over$4.3 million in total property tax revenues including$2.3 million in Ad Valorem tax
revenues for Seminole County Schools.
* If the Commissioners do not vote YES for the Mall and Medical Campus, the current
approved development order is for, among other things, Multi Family Housing, Gasoline
Stations, Mechanical or Automotive Garage, Alcoholic Beverage Establishments.
HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT THE OVIEDO CROSSING PROJECT?
The next major hurdle to move the project forward is to gain approval from the Seminole
County Commissioners at their meeting on Tuesday, April 25th at 7:00 p.m. in the
Commissioner's chamber at 1101 East First Street in Sanford. It is vital that the community
show that there is wide spread support for the project. If you can attend, arrive at least an
hour early (6:00 p.m.) in order to have a seat. If you are so inclined, the public will be
allowed to comment. It is recommended that you keep your remarks brief. In addition to
attending the meeting, please call the Commissioners to voice your support.
