HomeMy WebLinkAboutFormer Police Chief Hennigan-1968 Dog Rules Enforced By Chief NORTH ORLANDO — Police Chief Thomas Hen- nigan has reminded all residents that North Orlan- do has a dog ordinance and that he is enforcing.it. Since assuming this duties some weeks ago, Hennigan has been busy picking up strays and returning dogs that belong to residents. , The first time a known animal is picked up for running loose, the animal is returned and the owner instructed to confine the animal. HENNIGAN stated the problem of dogs running loose is "under control" on the south side of the com- munity, but many large dogs, especially German Shepherds, still are let run on the north side. This presents a danger to small children, according to the police chief, and is a nuisance to property own- ers. The city ordinance re- quires all dogs to be , confined to their premises, to be on a leash or under voice control while on the streets. A CITY license is re- quired which may be pur- chased from the village clerk. The fee is $1 for males a n d spayed fe- ales, $2 for unspayed fern- males, and inoculation for rabies is necessary. If a dog is picked up, it is taken to an Altamonte veterinarian and held for three days. If the animal is unclaimed, the dog is des- troyed. If the owner claims his pet, a fee of $4.50 per day is charged. 3/zyc a North Orlando Has Busy Police Chief By Mary Ann Campbell radio.Purchased this month NORTH ORLANDO — by the council at a cost of Since becoming North Or- Orlando this enables North lando police chief Fe- from is h'receive calls 5, Thomas Hennigan from the sheriff's nearby has been a busy man. meat and other nearby m u n ithis monitoring Hennigan unit Consuming b much a his stated this o th Orlando's do's time has been the es tab- "increases North Oenforc'- lishing of a complete and value as a law enforce- CHIEF THOM.HENNIGAN up-to-date filing system for ment department and en- -. .
