Kaehler gives up city seat ❑The Winter Springs city commissioner regrets resigning, but she has moved from her district. By Elaine Bennett OF THE SEW WEL STAFF f 4-9'i/ WINTER SPRINGS — Veteran City Commissioner Cindy Kaehler will resign Monday night for per- sonal reasons, 10 months before her three-year term expires. The commission must appoint someone to fill the rest of Kaehler's term, which expires in November. Kaehler, who has served eight years on the commission, could not have sought a fourth term be- cause voters ap- proved a refer- 'VI endum last year limiting com- missioners to three terms. Kaehler said that a recent di- vorce forced awl her to move outside of her Kaehler commission district during the holidays. The city's charter re- quires the five commissioners to live within their districts. She said Wednesday she regrets leaving her commission seat and is unsure whether she will seek public office again. She still plans to stay involved, "but I think I need to take a break for a while." City Attorney Frank Kruppen- bacher said, "Her best attribute is having been a tenacious protector of the interest of the citizens. We could always count on her to make sure every developer was account- able. ... She always did what she 9r0/d/ O thought was right, not what was po- litically the best thing to do." Commissioner John Langellotti agreed. "It's a pity she is resign- ing,"he said. "I think I can speak for all the commission and the city in saying we all will miss her."
