Seminole County School Board members and Winter Springs
commissioners broke ground Friday for a new elementary school on
Shepard Road,just west of the Sheoah Boulevard intersection. 95-e 9 o `,
Actually,ground had already been broken by bulldozers and backhoes.
Construction is underway, but the dignitaries had a mound of sand
prepared to dig into during the ceremony.
The school,which will be named later through a contest,will encompass
112,000 square feet of building space and have a capacity of 788
students. It will take much of the load off of Winter Springs Elementary
School, which is severely overcrowded
The $7 5 million project is scheduled to be completed by next July.
