--On Jan. I I a Winter Springs
police officer traveling on SR 434
near Wagner's Curve noticed a
freshly hit oppossum in the road.
The animal was struggling vainly
to regain control of its body.
The officer stopped,moved the
animal to the side of the road and
received permission to put it out of
its misery using his service
weapon.
-- On Jan. 14 a police officer
noticed a car whose driver had a
history of traffic violations and
whose driver's license had been
suspended and pulled him over.
Following the man's arrest fordriv-
ing on a suspended license, the
officer asked for permission to
search the car.
He found a cigarette pack con-
taining onecigarette and one mari-
juana joint on the dashboard. He
also discovered two more small
baggs of marijuana and some wrap-
ping papers.
The man was arrested some
more.
-- Winter Springs police re-
ceived a call on Jan. 15 claiming
that three men and a woman had
entered the 7-11 store on Hwy. 17-
92 and that the woman had slipped
a pack of cigarettes into herjacket
and left without paying for them.
The car was spotted near
Albertson's on 17-92 and SR434.
Police received permission to
search the people and found noth-
ing. They then searched the car
and still found no cigarettes.
The subjects were released.
The cashier at 7-11 said that it
had appeared that the female had
put the cigarettes in herjacket,but
that she had not actually seen the
pack.

in their neighborhood. Moreover,
Tuscawilla residents as well as Oviedo
residents will eventually enjoy nearby
quality shopping and eating facilities.
