Starlight Baptist Church shines ; .

In May, 1989, twenty people gathered to discuss the organization of an Independent
Baptist Church in Seminole County.The goal was to build a church for the purpose of winning
souls and to build a strong,separated Christian people.On June 11, 1989,The Reverend Dr.
Glenn C. Riggs,pastor,led the first service of Starlight Baptist Church,with an attendance of

Attendance averaged 79 throughout 1989. In December of that year, the Bus Ministry
began, with the purchase of two buses. Area children were bused in and exposed to the
Gospel—many for the first time.
By 1990,the average attendance grew to 239 with a record attendance set in November of
400.The present location,at Hayes and Bahama roads in Winter Springs was purchased.
By 1991, Starlight had outgrown its building and the need to expand the auditorium was
evident The seating capacity was tripled and new pews,carpeting,and a sound system were
purchased. The average attendance for the year was 400, with 1,000 in attendance in four
separate services(including a record 1,348 for one service).Over 900 were saved in services,
plus many more in soul-winning and the jail nunistry.
Since 1992,Starlight Baptist Church has seen a somewhat slower,but steady growth,and
is considered one of the fastest-growing churches in Florida.Starlight has hosted a number of
conferences and has brought to its pulpit many of the best preachers in the country. 9 6, t 7/
The vision brought forward by Pastor Riggs in 1989 has continued to grow over the past
seven years, and developed Starlight Baptist Church into one of the leading soul-winning
churches in the United States.The Lord has blessed Starlight and has used its people to win
over 5,000 souls to Christ through the end of 1995_
Weekly Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m.;Sunday morning worship service is at 10:30 a.m.,
evening service is at 6:30 p.m.,and Thursday night prayer meeting is at 7:30 p.m.
