REQUEST:
The Parks and Recreation Department wish to inform the Parks and Recreation Advisory
Committee about the planning efforts for the 2015 Celebration of Freedom.
CONSIDERATIONS:
The Parks and Recreation Department began meeting with the Special Events ICS committee
on April 10, 2015. At this meeting past evaluations were examined and an event planning
schedule was finalized.
The projected expenses for the 2015 Celebration of Freedom is $26,055.
Fireworks: $12,000
Stage and Sound: $3,500
Light Towers: $4,800
Shuttle Buses: $1,680
Portable Restrooms: $1,500
Fencing: $525
Electrical Support: $200
Kids Games and Live Entertainment: $1,850
Projected revenue from Sponsors and Vendors is $30,400
Prizes for the Winter Spring Got Talent will be sponsored by Remax Town and Country. First
Place winners will receive $500 and the Second and Third Place winners will each receive
$100.
ITEM 201
Live entertainment will feature Bailey Callahan, and Ennis Pruitt’s band the Breakers. There
will also be a Freedom Fling Prize Toss featuring free prizes for kids from the main stage
sponsored by The Parks and Recreation Department and Chick-Fil-A.
In the Kids Zone there will be bounce houses for children. There will also be face painters
and balloon artists. The Winter Springs Summer Camp Staff will be hosting old fashioned all
American kids games, featuring a sponge relay, water balloon toss, sack races and pie eating
contest, with free candy prizes for all participants!
At 9:10 pm will be a fantastic 15 minute Fireworks Show choreographed to music.
Tentative Itinerary:
5:00pm: Gates Open
5:00pm -8:30pm Kids Zone
5:15pm: Winter Springs Got Talent
6:15pm: Bailey Callahan
7:00pm: Ennis Pruitt and The Breakers
8:00pm: Freedom Fling Prize Toss
8:20pm: Ennis Pruitt and The Breakers
9:00pm: National Anthem and God Bless America
9:10pm: Celebration of Freedom Fireworks Show.
9:30pm: Event Ends
RECOMMENDATION:
The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting that the Parks and Recreation
Advisory Committee receive the information provided in this Agenda Item
