HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015 03 23 Consent 303 Resolution 2015-09, Appreciation to former Commissioner Rick BrownCOMMISSION AGENDA ITEM 303 REQUEST: Informational Consent X Public Hearings Regular March 23, 2015 KS ALLL Regular Meeting City Manager Department The City Clerk requests that the City Commission review and approve Resolution Number 2015 -09 offering appreciation and gratitude for the contributions and service of Mr. Rick Brown as the recent Commissioner of District Two. SYNOPSIS: Based on past practices, the City Commission has expressed their gratitude to Elected Officials, similarly to what they have done for Board and Committee Members who are no longer serving the City on a particular Board /Committee. CONSIDERATIONS: Former Commissioner Rick Brown was Elected as the Commissioner for District Two on November 7, 2006, and served two (2) four year Terms of Office through late 2014; with his last official City Commission Regular Meeting being October 27, 2014. Resolution 2015 -09 is presented in honor of former Commissioner Rick Brown's dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs. Additionally, the City Commission discussed at the November 17, 2014 and the March 9, 2015 City Commission meetings, to present former Commissioner Brown with an official honorary "Key to the City" for his contributions to the City of Winter Springs. (Wording on the "Key to the City" Plaque has been typically put together by the City Clerk, and this would continue unless the City Commission would prefer someone else to provide applicable wording for the "Key to the City" Plaque.) FISCAL IMPACT: Consent 303 PAGE 1 OF 2 - March 23, 2015 There is no fiscal impact related to the Approval of Resolution Number 2015 -09. Related to the official "Key to the City ", while we still have some "Keys to the City" on hand, no purchase is needed for this. However, a "Key to the City" has typically been attached to a plaque with applicable wording, and thus to continue with past practices, a cost of approximately up to one hundred dollars ($100.00) will be required; and currently sufficient funds in Line Code 1100 - 555480 (Promotional) for this purchase. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney /Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals. RECOMMENDATION: The City Clerk is requesting that the City Commission approve Resolution Number 2015- 09. Upon the City Commission's approval of this Resolution, former Commissioner Rick Brown will be contacted by the City Clerk and asked to attend a City Commission Meeting or event to receive this Resolution of Appreciation, and also a "Key to the City" as agreed to by the City Commission.
