• I received a comp aint from neighbors in regards to the
residence being abandoned with several violations.
• August 7, 2014: I observed grass and weeds were
overgrown over 10 inches. At the garage door there were
extension cords that ran across the overhand extensions
(soffits) the extension cords are plugged into the sockets.
Most of the vent covers were missing from the front of the
residence. There is a crack to the left of the front door on
the exterior wall. The chimney has rotten and decayed
wood on the exterior.

We were given permission to enter neighbor' s property to
make observations. While in the backyard of 221 Shore
Rd. I observed several panels and whole sections of fence
missing from the 223 property. Grass and weeds were over
10 inches long. There were also large tree limbs all over
the yard with junk and debris. There was also a stagnant
pool on the property with no enclosure. The fence is the
only enclosure. There is a accessory building in the far side
of the yard closest to 225 Shore Rd. The roof has started to
cave in on itself, and the door is not working correctly
appears to be broken or stuck open.

• August 8, 2014: property was posted with immediate intent
to remedy. Also unplugged extension cord from socket.
• August 13, 2014: the owner' s son from New York came to
the station. He advised that he had cut the yard the best he
could. He also advised they were attempting to sell the
vehicle in the garage to help pay for violations but were
unable to due to title issues. He also found out there was a
lien against the vehicle as well. The same day I went and
inspected property the yard and shrubs were partially cut.
All other violations have not been corrected.

• August 18, 2014: I made contact with the son and he was
actively working on the property. Pool is partially drained
and chemicals have been added; backyard was being
cleared.
• September 4, 2014: I received a call from Amanda Smith
the neighbor at 221 Shore Rd. advising the son of the
owner had quit working on the property and had returned
back to New York on a train.
• October 31 , 2014: I received a call from another neighbor
advising the grass was getting long again. Property was
inspected and the grass was cut by a city contractor,

• There has been no contact from owner or the owners of
property since August 13, 2014.
• January 28, 2015 : Case was set for January code board and
pulled due to change of ownership. Bank advised they
would start working on it right away.

• February 10, 2015 : Notice for Code Board hearing was
sent Certified and First Class mail to new owners and was
posted at the property and City Hall. While at the property
there was a covered trailer in driveway. I did not see
anyone working at the time. There was a tarp over part of
the chimney that was not there before.

advising it was letter was delivered.

In regards to this case, I recommend the owner be given until
March 1'7, 2015 to make the corrections. If found in non-
compliance a fine of $250.00 a day be imposed.
