Home My WebLink About2014 10 13 Consent 309 Resolution 2014-15, Appreciation to former Oak Forest Wall and Beautification District Advisory Committee member Brian Oliver COMMISSION AGENDA Informational Consent X ITEM 309 Public Hearings g Regular October 13, 2014 KS ALLL Regular Meeting City Manager Department REQUEST: The City Clerk requests that the City Commission review and approve Resolution Number 2014-15 offering their appreciation and gratitude for the service of Mr. Brian Oliver as a recent Member of the Oak Forest Wall and Beautification District Advisory Committee. SYNOPSIS: The City Commission has many Board and Committee Members, and is very appreciative of the service they provide to the City, to the City Commission, and to Staff. Thus, when a Board or Committee Member resigns or their Term of Service ends or when a Board/Committee is sunsetted, the Mayor and City Commission have noted their desire to show their gratitude to these Board/Committee Members. Therefore, in each case of a Board or Committee Member resigning their position, or they have reached the allowable number of years of Service, or when a Board/Committee is sunsetted, the City Commission is requested to approve a Resolution of Appreciation. Accordingly, Resolution 2014-15 is being presented in honor of Mr. Oliver's dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs and to the City Commission as a valued Member of the City's Oak Forest Wall and Beautification District Advisory Committee- for more than a decade. Upon approval by the City Commission, Mr. Oliver will be contacted by the City Clerk and asked to attend a future City Commission Regular Meeting to personally receive his Resolution of Appreciation from the Mayor and City Commission. Whatever date is agreed upon for the Presentation of the Resolution, the Presentation will then be noticed Consent 309 PAGE 1 OF 2-October 13,2014 on the applicable Agenda, under"Awards and Presentations". CONSIDERATIONS: Mr. Brian Oliver was first Appointed to the Oak Forest Wall and Beautification District Advisory Committee on October 13, 2003 by former Commissioner Michael S. Blake. Recently, Mr. Oliver was termed out on the Oak Forest Wall and Beautification District Advisory Committee. Resolution 2014-15 has been written in honor of Mr. Oliver's dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs and to the City Commission as a valued Member of the City's Oak Forest Wall and Beautification District Advisory Committee. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact related to Resolution Number 2014-15, if this Resolution is Approved. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals. Upon approval of this Resolution, the City Clerk will contact Mr. Oliver on behalf of the Mayor and City Commission, in keeping with what the City Commission has previously requested, and invite Mr. Oliver to attend a future City Commission meeting to receive his Resolution in person, from the Mayor and City Commission. RECOMMENDATION: The City Clerk is requesting that the City Commission review and approve Resolution Number 2014-15. Upon Approval of this Resolution, the City Clerk will then contact Mr. Oliver on behalf of Mayor Lacey and the City Commission regarding an official Presentation in his honor by the Mayor and City Commission. WHEREAS, BRIAN OLIVER has performed an outstanding service to the public by representing the City of Winter Springs on the Oak Forest Wall and Beautification District Advisory Committee since being Appointed on October 13, 2003; and WHEREAS,the work and efforts of BRIAN OLIVER has greatly benefited his neighbors and the residents of Winter Springs; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, wish to express their appreciation and acknowledgement on behalf of the citizens of Winter Springs and to commend BRIAN OLIVER for his conscientious and faithful service. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida: SECTION L - That this Resolution of Appreciation for the service of BRIAN OLIVER be recorded upon the Public Records and Minutes of said City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida. SECTION IL - That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to BRIAN OLIVER with our heartfelt thanks for a job well done!
