Regular Meeting Authorization REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department wishes to inform the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee about the status of the Shade Structure project at Central Winds Park. CONSIDERATIONS: • A selection committee of City staff reviewed the bids submitted and based on a scoring matrix recommended the award of the contract to KORKAT, Inc. in the amount of$82,391.83 plus 10% contingency. • On May 12,the City Commission approved the award of the contract to KORKAT, Inc. • Permitting will be completed soon and KORKAT is expected to start construction 30 days after receiving permit. They are estimating the install time will take one week. • With the Shade Structure process, the Parks and Recreation Department took bids for new bleachers. The new bleachers will be 27 feet long and 5 rows high. There will be a guard rail around rows 3-5 to increase safety. Also,the bleachers will increase seating capacity for each field. • On July 28, the City Commission approved the award of the bid to Gulf Coast Sports in the amount of$31,970 which includes shipping and install. The bid also included a shade structure to go over the bleacher at the t-ball field at Central Winds Park. FISCAL IMPACT: • All shade structure and bleachers project costs are utilizing 2014 Parks Impact Fee funds. RECOMMENDATION: The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee receive the information provided in this Agenda Item. ATTACHMENTS: None.
