OFFICE OF THE MAYOR WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, since the United States of America was founded, millions of our citizens have defended our country, giving their
all, here and throughout the world—all efforts made for our country's freedom, and for liberty, and justice,and a better life; and
WHEREAS, it is evident to Americans, the sacrifices and efforts that have been made by those who have served our country
as Veterans, and that some Veterans made the ultimate sacrifice — and this was all done for this great country of ours and its
citizens-to keep peace in our hearts; and
WHEREAS, GEORGE STARKS served in the Army Air Force and also the United States Army, served his country in World
War II and the Korean War; and as a B-17 Commander at the age of 19 when his plane was shot down over occupied France, he
managed to hide and avoid capture and make his way to Switzerland; and was reunited after the war with four crewmembers who
became prisoners of war after they were captured; and through his unselfish, courageous, brave, and honorable efforts, our
country is part of a much better world; and
'WHEREAS, on April 26, 2014, GEORGE STARKS and some of his fellow service members took part on a journey to our
nation's Capitol, Washington D.C., a"Tour of Honor';courtesy of the Honor Flight Network; and y
WHEREAS, the Honor Flight Network was incredibly proud to take GEORGE STARKS and his colleagues on their Honor
Flight, so that these hero Veterans could personally see the Memorials which were built to honor those who served-for the valiant
and admirable service to our country and for their efforts to help protect us and to keep us safe; and
'WHEREAS, as fellow Winter Springs' citizens, it is such a privilege to recognize GEORGE STARKS for all he has done
towards peace in our world, for freedom, and for the good of this great country of ours.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHARLES LACEY, Mayor of the City of Winter Springs, Florida do hereby Proclaim on
behalf of the City Commission and all of our residents of this great City,that we sincerely recognize

for admirably serving the United States of America, and for being a hero whom we humbly salute, and to whom we offer our most
sincerest admiration, ap■reciation, and heartfelt thanks.
