Authorization REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department desires to provide the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee with information on recently resigned Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Member Edith Walsh. CONSIDERATIONS: • Recently, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Member Edith Walsh resigned from the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. • A Consent Agenda Item went to the City Commission for their approval at their April 28, 2014 City Commission Regular Meeting and was approved by the City Commission. • The Parks and Recreation Department certainly offers their thanks and appreciation to former Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Member Edith Walsh. RECOMMENDATION: The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee receive the information provided in this Agenda Item ATTACHMENTS: Attachment A— Copy of the April 28'h', 2014 City Commission Consent Agenda Item 302 Attachment "A" COMMISSION AGENDA Informational Consent X IT EM 302 Public Hearings Regular April 28, 2014 KS ALLL Regular Meeting City Manager Department REQUEST: The City Clerk requests that the City Commission review and approve Resolution Number 2014-04 offering their appreciation and gratitude for the service of Ms. Edith Walsh as a recent Member of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. SYNOPSIS: The City Commission has many Board and Committee Members, and is very appreciative of the service they provide to the City, to the City Commission, and to Staff. Thus, when a Board or Committee Member resigns or their Term of Service ends or when aBoard/Committee is sunsetted, the Mayor and City Commission have noted their desire to show their gratitude to these Board/Committee Members. Therefore, in each case of a Board or Committee Member resigning their position, or they have reached the allowable number of years of Service, or when a Board/Committee is sunsetted, the City Commission is requested to Approve a Resolution of Appreciation. Accordingly, Resolution 2014-04 is presented herein in honor of Ms. Walsh's dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs and to the City Commission as a valued Member of the City's Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. Upon Approval by the City Commission, Ms. Walsh will be contacted by the City Clerk and asked to attend a future City Commission Regular Meeting to personally receive her Resolution of Appreciation from the Mayor and City Commission. Whatever date is agreed upon for the Presentation of the Resolution, the Presentation is then noticed on the applicable Agenda, under"Awards and Presentations". Consent 302 PAGE 1 OF 2-April 28,2014 CONSIDERATIONS: Ms. Edith Walsh Was first Appointed to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee on December 10th, 2012 by Commissioner Pam Carroll. Recently, Ms. Walsh resigned from the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. Resolution 2014-04 has been Written in honor of Ms. Walsh's dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs and to the City Commission as a valued Member of the City's Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact related to Resolution Number 2014-04, if this Resolution is Approved. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and is available on the City's Web site, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda Which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and Which is also available on the City's Web site, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives Who have requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item With any interested individuals. Upon Approval of this Resolution, the City Clerk will contact Ms. Walsh on behalf of the Mayor and City Commission, in keeping with what the City Commission has previously requested, and invite Ms. Walsh to attend a future City Commission meeting to receive her Resolution in person, from the Mayor and City Commission. RECOMMENDATION: The City Clerk is requesting that the City Commission review and Approve Resolution Number 2014-04. Upon Approval of this Resolution, the City Clerk will then contact Ms. Walsh on behalf of Mayor Lacey and the City Commission regarding an official Presentation in her honor by the Mayor and City Commission. 'WHEREAS, EDITH 'ALSH has performed an outstanding service to the public by representing the City of Winter Springs on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee since being Appointed on December 10, 2012; and 'WHEREAS, the work and efforts of EDITH WALSH has greatly benefited her neighbors and the residents of Winter Springs; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, wish to express their appreciation and acknowledgement on behalf of the citizens of Winter Springs and to commend EDITH WALSH for her conscientious and faithful service. Now THEREFORE, SE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs,Florida: SECTION L, - That this Resolution of Appreciation for the service of EDITH WALSH be recorded upon the Public Records and Minutes of said City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida. SECTION IL -That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to EDITH WALSH with our heartfelt thanks for a job well done!
