March 24, 2014 KS SB
Regular Meeting City Manager Department
REQUEST:
The Finance Director and City Manager are requesting that the City Commission approve
the proposed FY 2015 Budget Calendar.
SYNOPSIS:
Approval of budget calendar in order to establish a timeline for the FY 2015 budget process.
CONSIDERATIONS:
The most critical events have been emphasized/bolded on the Proposed Budget Calendar
(attached). A July Budget "Workshop" would need to occur prior to the regularly-scheduled
July 28th meeting when the "millage cap" will be established in order to meet Statutory
(TRIM) requirements. Potential July workshop dates have been highlighted on the attached
calendar (July 1-18).
Transmission of the FY 2015 Proposed Budget will occur by July 1st, per Charter. The
Winter Springs' public hearing schedule for budget adoption must defer to those of
Seminole Schools and Seminole County. Their anticipated public hearing dates do not
present a conflict with our Monday night Commission meeting calendar. July 28th is the
last regularly-scheduled Commission meeting in which to establish the millage cap.
September 22nd is the last regularly-scheduled Commission meeting in which to adopt the
final budget.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The outcome of the budget workshop will determine the financial and operational direction
