REQUEST:
Commissioner Joanne M. Krebs requested that an Agenda Item be provided in early 2014
related to including the City Manager and the City Clerk in the previously approved
potential merit increases for City employees that are planned for mid-year 2014.
SYNOPSIS:
At the October 28, 2013 City Commission Regular Meeting, as brought up by
Commissioner Joanne M. Krebs and with Consensus of the City Commission, the City
Manager and the City Clerk were asked to bring an Agenda Item to the City Commission in
early 2014, related to consideration of a potential merit increase for Fiscal Year 2014 for the
City Manager and the City Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS:
The Fiscal Year 2014 Approved Budget included a potential maximum raise (mid year) for
City employees of up to 2 1/2 %. All regular full-time and regular part-time City
employees are eligible, based on recent performance through February 28th, 2014.
Commissioner Krebs suggested that the City Commission consider the City Manager and
the City Clerk for a potential salary increase also, during this same period.
Any approved raises for employees would be effective on the first pay period after April 1,
2014 (the first paycheck that employees will see the raise on will be: April 25, 2014, which
is for the pay period April 7, 2014 - April 20, 2014).
FISCAL IMPACT:

The 2014 Fiscal Year Budget approved up to 2 1/2% (mid-year) for City employees based
on specific performance criteria.
COMMUNICATION EFFORTS:
This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission,
City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and
the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the
respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals
noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's
Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have
requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives
on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This
information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional
copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the
City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff
is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested
individuals.
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Commission is requested to consider the information in this Agenda Item and
proceed as the City Commission deems appropriate.
