Designed to be "the ultimate layover course", ALdgc is a fairly short track that is easy to navigate and, although it isn't reflected on this map, has two sets of concrete tees and two sets of targets, so that each fairway can play 4 different ways at ANY given time... without having to move equipment around to give the players more variety. Not a single living tree was downed to create this course. ' .: . i. * • } 1 ~ Carly's Playground @ Mount Holiday Ski Area in Traverse City, MI is one of our most'aggressive' designs and serves as a living memorial to Carly Jean Lewis. All 18 holes have elevation changes of some sort, both up & down. There are dual carpet tee pads (pink& blue) on each fairway and dual targets (also pink& blue)to cater to 4 different skill levels at all times. If you time your round properly you can catch the spectacular sunset as you finish your round. Each fairway has dual rubber mat tees and 3 pin positions (1 custom colored basket). There are elevation changes, which come into play on several of the holes. P.I. is currently ranked#7 in the world for 9-hole courses and is slated for the next 9 in 2013-2014. The first 9 was installed in 2007 with dual tees and a single pin placement, though 3 placements were designed for each fairway. The remaining 9 were installed in 2013 and many more pin placements were installed, bringing the pin placement total to 74! The DeBary Disc Golf Club has taken stewardship of the course by cleaning up litter, fairways, moving baskets and keeping equipment in good shape. DDGC was awarded a letter of meritorious recognition by the City of DeBary for their ongoing efforts. On a weekend, I have witnessed over 30 cars in the parking lot... and disc golf is the ONLY amenity in the park. Dual tees and dual DISCatcher baskets provide the right level of challenge and risk vs reward for any level of player, from beginner to Championship level. 6 more holes are planned for the future, once the course becomes more integrated into the Outdoor Recreation program. Disc sales & rentals will be available and demos and clinics are currently being scheduled for 2014.
