Commission, Kevin L. Smith was
iinanimously selected as the City
Manager for the City of Winter
Springs, Florida.
'X th an impressive background in local governments
in Florida for approximately 19 years, Mr. Smith's
professional experience has included serving as a Finance
:rid Administrative Services Director, Deputy Finance
Director, Assistant Finance Director, Human Resources
Director, and Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA)
Executive Director.
`,4r. Smith joined the City of Winter Springs in November
,005 as its General Services Director, responsible for the
4uman Resources Division, Risk Management Division, and
-lurchasing Division. In addition to these responsibilities,
�4r. Smith often served in the previous City Manager's
•read and led numerous special projects and budget related
ssues. Then, on January 26, 2009, Mr. Smith was appointed
is City Manager with a provisional six month term. Last
light, just four months into this term of office, and after
�iuch praise and many compliments related to his honest
,pproach, his professionalism, and with consideration of
what he has already accomplished since late January 2009,

positions, Mr. Smith was Voted 5 -0 as the new City Manager
for the City of Winter Springs.
Mr. Smith holds a Masters of Business Administration
(MBA) from the University of Central Florida, graduating
with a 4.0 GPA; and a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Accounting from the Florida State University. Additionally,
Mr. Smith is a Certified Government Finance Officer and
a member of the Government Finance Officers Association
(GFOA) and the Florida Government and Finance Officers
Association (FGFOA).
Mr. Smith is 44 years old and resides in Winter Springs
with his wife Kim, their son Ryan, a graduating Senior at
Oviedo High School. Their daughter Kirstein graduated
from Winter Springs High School and just graduated from
Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
The City of Winter Springs is proud and honored to have
Mr. Smith as its new Chief Executive Officer and is sure the
City will be led with incredible skill and professionalism.
Mayor Bush states, "I am pleased that the Commission
voted 5 -0 to hire Kevin Smith as our City Manager. He is
the right person for the job!"
Mayor Bush and the City Commission will be holding a
Reception to formally welcome Mr. Smith and his family
to the community. A date will be forthcoming. For further
