REQUEST:
ThePolice Department requests Commission approval of the expenditure of Federal Law
Enforcement Trust Fund monies for the purchase of replacement Police Department gym
equipment from vendor Get RX’D in the amount of $7,000.00, and (5) patrol rifles from
vendor KNR Shooting Sports in the amount of $10,000.
SYNOPSIS:
The Police Department requests to seek consent of the Commission to approve the
expenditure of $17,000 from the Federal Law Enforcement Trust Fund for the purchase of
replacement gym equipment from Get RX’D and five patrol rifles from KNR Shooting
Sports.
CONSIDERATIONS:
The Police Department is in the process of updating its aged and outdated gym/workout
room and equipment. The department’s goal is to update the equipment to a functional
fitness platform. This type of fitness program not only promotes physical wellness of all
employees, but provides for improvements in the members job performance because the
program(s) are based on fitness needs to perform police officer job functions. The $7,000.00
dollar expenditure will provide the necessary equipment to provide comprehensive
programs designed by our certified wellness instructors. In an effort to update our currently
issued long gun platform the police department would like to purchase five completely
outfitted advanced patrol rifles. These rifles will be issued to patrol officers and
will provide exceptional mid to close range firearms response to high risk situations that
our officers may be called upon to respond to.
