Home My WebLink About2012 03 12 Consent 205 Resolution Number 2012-09 Recognize Retirement of Jerry Sturdevant COMMISSION AGENDA Informational Consent X ITEM205 Public Hearings Regular March 12, 2012KSKL Regular MeetingCity ManagerDepartment REQUEST: The Utility/Public Works Department requests that the City Commission approve Resolution Number 2012-09 recognizing the retirement of Public Works Department employee Jerry Sturdevant SYNOPSIS: The City Commission is very appreciative of all of the employees who faithfully serve the citizens and City Commission of Winter Springs. For long-serving employees, the City Commission has expressed their interest in presenting such employees with a Resolution at a City Commission meeting. In such cases, a Resolution is submitted to the City Commission on the Consent Agenda for approval. Upon approval by the City Commission, the applicable employee is either presented with the Resolution at the same City Commission meeting during “Awards and Presentations” or attends a future City Commission meeting to receive their Resolution. CONSIDERATIONS: Public Works Department employee Jerry Sturdevant began his career with the City of Winter Springs on May 11, 1998 as a Facilities Maintenance Technician and he has continued in that capacity since that time. Mr. Sturdevant's last day with the City will be March 30, 2012. Resolution Number 2012-09 is being submitted during the Consent Agenda of this Meeting for your Approval. Then, during the Awards and Presentations section of this Regular Meeting, Resolution 2012-09 will be presented to Jerry Sturdevant in honor of his 14 years of service to the City of Winter Springs. Consent 205 PAGE 1 OF 2 - March 12, 2012 FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact if Resolution Number 2012-09 is approved . COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and is available on the City’s Website, LaserFiche, and the City’s Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City’s Website, LaserFiche, and the City’s Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Homeowner’s Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission approve Resolution Number 2012-09 in honor of Public Works Department employee Jerry Sturdevant and his 14 years of dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs. 'WHEREAS, JERRY STURDEVANT has provided the residents of Winter Springs with 14 Nears of dedicated and distinguished service in the Winter Springs Public Works Department; and WHEREAS, ,JERRY STURDEVANT joined the City of Winter Springs on May 11, 1998 as a Facilities Maintenance Technician in the Public Works Department where he has since successfully* utilized his extensive electrical knowledge as well as other skill sets in the maintenance and repairs of the City s buildings; and WHEREAS, ,JERRY STURDEVANT has been an integral member of the Special Events Team available 24/7 ensuring that all electrical needs were addressed during the multiple annual events; and 'WHEREAS, ,JERRY STURDEVANT was easily* recognizable as he performed his duties throughout the City's facilities by his incessant display* of Florida Gator regalia; and 'WHEREAS, ,JERRY STURDEVANT has shown great commitment and pride in working for the City of Winter Springs for the last 14 Nears. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida as follows: SECTION I. — That the Mayor and Commission, City Manager, and Staff of the City of Winter Springs upon the occasion of ,JERRY STURDEVANT'S retirement takes great pleasure to recognize and honor him for his uncommon level of distinguished service to the residents of Winter Springs through his employment in the Winter Springs Public Works Department. SECTION 11. — That this Resolution commending the services of ,JERRY STURDEVANT be recorded upon the official Public Records and Minutes of the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida.
