REQUEST:
The City Manager is requesting that the City Commission approve the FY 2013
Budget Calendar
SYNOPSIS:
Approval of calendar in order to establish a timeline for the FY 2013 budget process.
CONSIDERATIONS:
Regarding the Budget Calendar, the most relevant and critical events have been bolded on
the Proposed Budget Calendar (attached). Two time frames have been identified for
potential budget workshops to be determined by the Mayor and Commission — specifically,
May 14 - June 8 and the month of July.
Transmission of the Proposed Budget will reflect Commission consensus from all previous
workshops and will occur by July 1 The Winter Springs' public hearing schedule must
defer to those of Seminole Schools and Seminole County. Their anticipated public hearing
dates do not present a conflict with our Monday night Commission meeting calendar. July
23 is the last regularly scheduled Commission meeting in which to establish the millage
cap. September 24 is the last regularly scheduled Commission meeting in which to adopt
the final budget.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no direct impact from this agenda item. However, the decisions made by the
Commission will set the stage for the 2013 Fiscal Year.
