Custidero Retirement COMMISSION AGENDA CONSENT X ITEM 206 INFORMATIONAL PUBLIC HEARING REGULAR MGR /DEPT _____ June 27, 2011 Regular Meeting Authorization REQUEST : The Police Department requests the City Commission review and approve Resolution 2011-23 recognizing the retirement of Police Department employee Cpl. Louis R. Custidero. _______________________________________________________________________ SYNOPSIS : The City Commission is very appreciative of all of the employees who faithfully serve the citizens and City Commission of Winter Springs. For long-serving employees, the City Commission has expressed their interest in presenting these employees with a Resolution at a City Commission meeting. In such cases, a Resolution is submitted to the City commission on the Consent Agenda for approval. Upon approval by the City Commission, the applicable employee is either presented with the Resolution at the time same City Commission meeting during the Awards and Presentations or they attend a future City Commission meeting to receive their Resolution. CONSIDERATIONS : Cpl. Louis R. Custidero started his employment with the City of Winter Springs Police Department on June 25, 1998. He was assigned as a School Resource Officer for the Indian Trails Middle School campus where he has faithfully served the parents, children, and faculty of ITMS since the start of his employment. During his time, Cpl. Custidero has had the chance to impact children, families, and other school staff in need of his services and personal attention. Throughout his duties, Cpl. Custidero has earned the respect of everyone he meets due in part to his ability to intervene in a problem or help someone in need while maintaining an approachable, calm demeanor. Cpl. Custidero has also gained the respect of his peers at the police department due in part to his “never give up” mentality and willingness to still do the best job possible. For his efforts, friendship, and dedication, we honor Cpl. Louis R. Custidero and bid him a long, happy retirement from public service and his 39 total years in law enforcement. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with approval of this resolution. City Commission – Regular Meeting June 27, 2011 Consent Agenda Item #206 Page 2 of 2 COMMUNICATIONS EFFORTS: This Agenda item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and all e-alert/e- citizen recipients and is available on the City’s website, Laserfiche, and the City’s server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda item are typed verbatim on the respective meeting agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above; and which is also available on the city’s website, Laserfiche, and the City’s server; has been sent to City staff, media/press representatives who have requested Agendas or Agenda item information, Homeowner’s Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information; and has been posted outside City Hall; posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the general public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the city. This Agenda item is also available to any new individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this or any Agenda item with any interested individuals. : RECOMMENDATIONS It is recommended that the City Commission approve Resolution Number 2011-23 in honor of Police Department employee Cpl. Louis R. Custidero and his 13 years of dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida as follows: SECTION I — That the Mayor and Commission, City Manager, and Staff of the City of Winter Springs upon the occasion of LOUIS CUSTIDERO'S retirement takes great pleasure to recognize and honor him for his uncommon level of distinguished service to the residents of Winter Springs through his employment in the Winter Springs Police Department. SECTION II — That this Resolution commending the services of LOUIS CUSTIDERO be recorded upon the official Public Records and Minutes of this City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida.
