REQUEST
: The Police Department requests the City Commission review and approve
Resolution 2011-22 recognizing the retirement of Police Department employee Cpl.
Robert W. Cable.

SYNOPSIS
: The City Commission is very appreciative of all of the employees who
faithfully serve the citizens and City Commission of Winter Springs. For long-serving
employees, the City Commission has expressed their interest in presenting these employees
with a Resolution at a City Commission meeting. In such cases, a Resolution is submitted
to the City commission on the Consent Agenda for approval. Upon approval by the City
Commission, the applicable employee is either presented with the Resolution at the time
same City Commission meeting during the Awards and Presentations or they attend a
future City Commission meeting to receive their Resolution.
CONSIDERATIONS
: Robert Cable began his employment with the City of Winter
Springs Police Department on November 12, 1987 as an officer, eventually transferring to
the Criminal Investigations Bureau as a Detective in 1989 while progressing to the rank of
Corporal. While assigned in the Criminal Investigations Bureau, Investigator Cable has
served in the Persons Crimes Unit, Property Crimes Unit, Special Investigation Unit,
Crime Scene Services Unit, the Child Abduction Response Team and currently as a
member of the Attorney General’s Task Force on Child Pornography. Investigator Cable
has been directly involved with handling the highest profile cases in the City of Winter
Springs history and has brought justice to those who needed it most. The city is a better
place for the efforts of Investigator Cable.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with approval of this resolution.

COMMUNICATIONS EFFORTS:
This Agenda item has been electronically forwarded
to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and all e-alert/e-
citizen recipients and is available on the City’s website, Laserfiche, and the City’s server.
Additionally, portions of this Agenda item are typed verbatim on the respective meeting
agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above; and
which is also available on the city’s website, Laserfiche, and the City’s server; has been
sent to City staff, media/press representatives who have requested Agendas or Agenda
item information, Homeowner’s Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all
individuals who have requested such information; and has been posted outside City Hall;
posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the general public, and posted
at five (5) different locations around the city. This Agenda item is also available to any
new individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this or any Agenda item
with any interested individuals.

RECOMMENDATIONS
It is recommended that the City Commission approve
Resolution Number 2011-22 in honor of Police Department employee Investigator Robert
W. Cable and his 23 years of dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs.

SPRINGS, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING ROBERT W. CABLE FOR HIS 23
YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY OF
WINTER SPRINGS; AND EXPRESSING OUR APPRECIATION ON BEHALF
OF THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS; AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, ROBERT CABLE has proudly given the residents of Winter Springs 23 years of
distinguished service with the Winter Springs Police Department; and
WHEREAS, ROBERT CABLE joined the City of Winter Springs on November 12, 1987 as a Police
Officer with the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, ROBERT CABLE accomplished a lifetime dream of becoming a detective in 1999 where
he served our community in that position for the past 22 years; and
WHEREAS, ROBERT CABLE has been a major part of the development of the Criminal
Investigations Bureau and the training of its members serving in the Persons Crimes Unit, Property Crimes
Unit, Special Investigation Unit, Crime Scene Services Unit, the Child Abduction Response Team and currently
as a member of the Attorney General's Task Force combating child pornography; and
WHEREAS, ROBERT CABLE has made a difference in the lives of so many people in the Central
Florida Community, investigating and arresting suspects on some of the most high profile cases in our City's
history and bringing justice to those who needed it most.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs,
Florida as follows:
SECTION I — That the Mayor and Commission, City Manager, and Staff of the City of Winter Springs
upon the occasion of ROBERT CABLE'S retirement takes great pleasure to recognize and honor him for his
unselfish level of dedication and distinguished service to the residents of Winter Springs through his
employment with the Winter Springs Police Department.
SECTION II — That this Resolution commending the services of ROBERT CABLE be recorded upon
the official Public Records and Minutes of this City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida.
SECTION III — That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to ROBERT CABLE with our sincerest
thanks for his many contributions.
