REQUEST: The Finance and Administrative Services Department requests that the City
Commission approve Resolution Number 2011-24 recognizing the retirement
of Finance and Administrative Services Department employee Mary Wilson.
SYNOPSIS:
The City Commission is very appreciative of all of the employees who faithfully serve
the citizens and City Commission of Winter Springs. For long-serving employees, the
City Commission has expressed their interest in presenting such employees with a
Resolution at a City Commission meeting. In such cases, a Resolution is submitted to the
City Commission on the Consent Agenda for approval. Upon approval by the City
Commission, the applicable employee is either presented with the Resolution at the same
City Commission meeting during “Awards and Presentations” or attends a future City
.

CONSIDERATIONS:
Finance and Administrative Services Department employee Mary Wilson began her career with
the City of Winter Springs on March 27, 1974 as an Administrative Secretary in the Police
Department and progressed to the Human Resource Coordinator position in the Finance and
Mary Wilson is the longest tenured employee in Winter
Administration Services Department.
Springs’ history
. Ms. Wilson’s last day with the City will be June 30, 2011. Resolution
Number 2011-24 is being submitted during the Consent Agenda of this Meeting for your
Approval. Then, during the Awards and Presentation section of this Regular Meeting,
Resolution 2011-24 will be presented to Mary Wilson in honor of her 37 years of service to the
City of Winter Springs.

FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact if Resolution Number 2011-24 is approved.
COMMUNICATION EFFORTS:
This Agenda Item Has Been Electronically Forwarded To The Mayor And City Commission,
City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, And All eAlert/eCitizen Recipients; And Is Available On
The City’s Website, LaserFiche, And The City’s Server. Additionally, Portions Of This Agenda
Item Are Typed Verbatim On The Respective Meeting Agenda Which Has Also Been
Electronically Forwarded To The Individuals Noted Above; And Which Is Also Available On
The City’s Website, LaserFiche, And The City’s Server; Has Been Sent To City Staff,
Media/Press Representatives Who Have Requested Agendas/Agenda Item Information,
Homeowner’s Associations/Representatives On File With The City, And All Individuals Who
Have Requested Such Information; And Has Been Posted Outside City Hall; Posted Inside City
Hall With Additional Copies Available For The General Public; And Posted At Five (5)
Different Locations Around The City. This Agenda Item Is Also Available To Any New
Individual Requestors. City Staff Is Always Willing To Discuss This Or Any Agenda Item With
Any Interested Individuals.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve Resolution Number 2011-24 in honor of
Finance and Administrative Services Department employee Mary Wilson and her 37 years of
dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WINTER
SPRINGS, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING MARY WILSON FOR HER 37 YEARS
OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY OF WINTER
SPRINGS; AND EXPRESSING OUR APPRECIATION ON BEHALF OF THE
CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, MARY WILSON joined the City of Winter Springs on March 27, 1974 as an Administrative
Secretary in the Police Department at the age of 20 and is now officially proclaimed the LONGEST serving employee in
the City's history;
WHEREAS, MARY WILSON has provided the residents of Winter Springs with 37 years of dedicated and
distinguished service. In that 37 years, she has "gotten around the block" with dedicated service in the Departments of
General Services, Police, Public Works; and last but certainly not least, Finance and Administrative Services;
WHEREAS, MARY WILSON not only wore many wigs over the years, she also wore many hats:
Administrative Assistant to the Police, Assistant Clerk, First African American Sworn Officer, and Human Resource
Coordinator - just to name a few;
WHEREAS, MARY WILSON has shown great commitment and passion in serving the City and has
provided employees with countless hours of counseling and coaching not to mention countless batches of banana
pudding. It goes without saying that all were served with a `biggy -size' measure of warm smiles and compassion; and
WHEREAS, MARY WILSON's scintillating personality and big heart have SO become a fixture at City
Hall that she will forever be counted in our inventory of City assets...in the SPECIAL class of assets that does not
depreciate.
Now THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs,
Florida as follows:
SECTION I - That the Mayor and Commission, City Manager, and Staff of the City of Winter Springs upon
the occasion of MARY WILSON'S retirement take great pleasure in recognizing and honoring her uncommon level
of distinguished service to the residents of Winter Springs through her employment at the City of Winter Springs.
SECTION II - That this Resolution commending the services of MARY WILSON be recorded upon the
official Public Records and Minutes of this City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida.
SECTION III - That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to MARY WILSON with our sincerest thanks
for her many contributions.
