REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department wishes to inform the City Commission
of the results of a Senior Center Therapy Pool Survey.
SYNOPSIS: The purpose of this item was to gather information from citizen input to
inform the City Commission regarding the results of a Senior Center Therapy
Pool Survey.
CONSIDERATIONS:
• In an effort to listen to our members, staff suggested to assess the needs of our citizens
using our Therapy Pool regarding class schedules, hours of operations, cleanliness, &
activities.
• Current Membership in 2010 -11 is 500 members.
• Membership is $40 per member annually for use of the Therapy Pool.
• Members are currently participating in one class per day.
• Monthly newsletter was developed for members starting February 2011.
• Certified Volunteer Instructors teach all classes from 9am -7pm Monday through Friday.
• 93% were pleased with current classes at pool.
• 97% were satisfied with the safety & cleanliness of our pool.
• 97% were informed of class registrations, schedules, weather updates at our pool.
• 5% of our members requested back to back classes, 3% requested more open swim time
and 3% requested for us to consider weekend hours.
• Staff is in the process of hiring a replacement certified Therapy Pool Specialist to teach
classes and train instructors.

This Agenda Item has been forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission; City Manager; City
Attorney /Staff, placed in Press Packets; placed in the City Hall (Lobby) City Commission
Meeting binder; and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server.
Additionally, information related to this Agenda Item has been sent to media /press
representatives who have requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, all Homeowner's
Associations on file with the City, all individuals who have requested Agendas /Agenda Item
information, Department Directors; and also posted outside City Hall; posted inside City Hall
with additional copies available for the general public; and posted at five (5) different locations
around the City.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends that the Commission review and accept the information in this agenda item.
