Meeting Authorization
REQUEST: Public Works Department providing information to the City Commission
regarding a request from Seminole County to provide a list of transportation
needs
SYNOPSIS: Seminole County requested the City provide a list of transportation needs over the
next ten years for the County's consideration for a possible extension of the one -
cent sales tax.
CONSIDERATIONS:
• Seminole County has requested that all cities in the County provide a list of
transportation needs over the next ten years The purpose of the list is to identify
transportation projects that could be funded through a possible extension (3 generation)
of the one -cent sales tax.
• The City's preliminary transportation needs list is attached as Exhibit A. The list is a non-
binding preliminary list that would be re- submitted to the City Commission for further
discussion and approval if the County decides to move forward with the one -cent sales
tax extension. In preparing the list, it was assumed that the total amount of funding over
the ten -year period would be approximately the same as was available to the City from
the 2 generation of the one -cent sales tax from 2001 -2011. The list was derived from
several sources, including the current 5 -Year Capital Improvements Plan, projected needs
for road reconstruction and bridge repairs, funding to support infrastructure development
at the Greenway Interchange District, and sidewalk/trail projects identified by the City's
Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The City was only requested to provide a transportation project list and there is no fiscal
impact associated with this activity.
