Meeting Authorization
REQUEST: Public Works Department Requesting Approval for a Supplemental Appropriation
from Transportation Improvement Fund Reserves for the repair of the south
traffic signal pole at SR 434 & SR 419.
SYNOPSIS: The purpose of this board item is to reallocate insurance proceeds from fund
balance into a repair and maintenance line code for the repair of the traffic signal
pole at 434 & 419.
CONSIDERATIONS:
The traffic signal pole at the south side of SR 434 at SR 419 was struck by a vehicle on
July 22, 2010. Seminole County Traffic Engineering, who performs traffic signal maintenance
for the City, determined that the structural integrity of the support pole was compromised and
should be replaced. The City's property insurance carrier, Florida League of Cities, received a
repair quote of $24,653.34 and provided a check on September 29, 2010 to the City for
$23,653.34. FLC will subrogate the deductible on our behalf and forward it when received.
Because the check was received in FY 2010 it accrues to FY 2010 the fund balance of the
Transportation Improvement Fund (104) and now needs to be transferred to the Traffic Signal
R& M line code in the Transportation Improvement Fund via a supplemental appropriation to
effectuate the repairs.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The supplemental appropriation of $24,653.34 from the Transportation Improvement
Fund balance will be revenue neutral (assuming the deductible is ultimately received) due to the
receipt of offsetting insurance proceeds.
