Authorization
REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department wishes to inform the City Commission
about the Hometown Harvest Special Event.
SYNOPSIS: The 5 Annual Winter Springs Hometown Harvest will be held on Saturday,
October 23, 2010 from 5:30 pm — 9:00 pm on North Tuscawilla Road to
Blumberg Blvd in the Winter Springs Town Center and will again provide
lots of country fun for the residents at no cost to the City.
CONSIDERATIONS:
• The City Commission budgeted $25,000 in FY 10 /11 for all City Special Events
including the Hometown Harvest, Holiday Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting, and July
4 Celebration of Freedom.
• The 2009 Winter Springs Hometown Harvest was a very successful special event. Also,
$8,060.70 was expended and $7,875.00 brought in through vendors and sponsors. The
general fund expenditure was $185.70.
• This year staff is projecting an expense of $9,300 and an income of $9,500. This would
result in a $200 carry over for the Holiday Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting in
December. Staff will work diligently to further reduce expenditures and increase income.
• The 5 Annual Winter Springs country fun event will be held on Saturday, October 23,
2010 from 5:30 pm — 9:00 pm in the street (North Tuscawilla to Blumberg Blvd.) in the
Winter Springs Town Center and is free of charge.
• The event will include performances by Melissa Brethaur, Shameron Batchelor, and
Winter Springs own 17 -70. Activities include Interactive Hayride, Kids Hay Play Area,
Chick -Fil -A Kids Zone, Pumpkin Painting by Plaster House, Face Painters, and lots of
great food vendors. The Hope Food Pantry will also be on hand to collect non - perishable
food items for those in need.
• The event is hosted by Leslye Gail of Radio Station Magic 107.7 and Arnie Nussbaum.
