Honorable John Bush

Dear Mayo Bu 4/
Please con '. r this letter as my formal request for nomination by the Board of Directors of the
Y q Y
Florida Leag r of Cities to become a candidate for the National League of Cities Board of
Directors.
In November, 2010, Mayor Bill Brooks will complete his term on the National League of Cities
Board leaving only Vice Mayor Margaret Bates representing Florida. Last year I chose not to
run because of my presidential priority, "Building Citizenship and Back to Basics ", and our
efforts to obtain legislation to return civics education back to our classrooms.
I am sure you all are aware of the success of the League to reach our goal. With the passage
of House Bill 105 and Senate Bill 1096, we have returned civics education to our classrooms
beginning in 2011. Again, let me personally thank all of you for your advocacy in this
endeavor.
It is my goal to take our program to the national level, but first I must be nominated and then
elected to the Board of Directors. Thank you all for your consideration of my request. I look
forward to representing the Florida League of Cities at the national level.
Sincerely
Dr. Carmine A. Priore
