MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES. MOTION BY VICE-CHAIR WEISMAN. SECONDED BY COMMITTEE MEMBER HANKES. MOTION PASSED WITH UNANIMOUS CONSENT PUBLIC HEARINGS AGENDA 400) Not Used REGULAR AGENDA 500.) Lake Jesup Boardwalk Brian Dunigan, Director of Administrative Services and Operations, discussed the Lake Jesup Boardwalk project alongside Parks Manager Michael Krist and Facilities Director Len Hartman. Mr. Dunigan noted this project was part of a Recreation Trails Program (RTP) federal grant application with an aim to build a 2,000-foot, 12-foot-wide elevated boardwalk along Lake Jesup. It was noted that the city was seeking $450,000 in federal RTP funds, requiring a $112,000 city match with work dependent on grant approval and applications due by the end of May. The project was planned as a phased project and discussion followed on previous work done on this project, ADA accessibility and compliance, maintenance costs, estimated lifespan of the structure, and similar projects that the city could look into. The committee was generally supportive of the project and asked to be updated as more information became available and continue to be given opportunities to share input. 501) Parks Update Parks Manager Michael Krist provided an update featuring department activities, completed maintenance, and upcoming events. Facility usage included 2,399 pickleball, 578 pavilion, 65 Civic Center, and 49 beach volleyball reservations. Notable events highlighted were the tree giveaway (908 trees), egg hunt (532 signups), youth sports opening day (500 participants), and the father-daughter dance (475 tickets over two nights). Maintenance highlights included installation of a new Central Winds Park entry sign, citywide freeze-damage trimming, pickleball court drainage fixes, swing set and mulch updates, amphitheater improvements for July 4th, and pavilion repainting. It was noted that bathroom dispenser upgrades had started at all park facilities, beginning with the Senior Center. Mr. Krist noted that future plans included Torcaso Park entrance upgrades, a sports playground overhaul, dog park reopening with a new trainer, and considering new belt swings for Moss Park. Finally, Mr. Krist noted upcoming events including Fish Winter Springs, Food Truck Thursday, the first Sizzle and Splash Barbecue Festival at Central Winds Park, Community Youth Outreach at Torcaso Park, Camp Sunshine, and the July 4th Celebration of Freedom. REPORTS Committee Member Lambie raised a follow-up concern regarding missing service line hash marks on the tennis courts at Trotwood Park, as well as the need for a permanent dividing net between the tennis and pickleball courts to improve safety and playability. Committee Member Lambie also suggested consulting Red Bug Lake Park, which has a similar net installation. Committee Member Jen Hankes inquired about beach volleyball rental rates and the possibility of adding a third sand volleyball court to attract larger tournaments was briefly discussed.
