Declaration to Recognize June as a Month of Respect, Inclusion and Community
SUMMARY
Commissioner Sarah Baker presented the draft version of the Declaration to recognize
the Month of June as a Month of Respect, Inclusion, and Community at the May 11,
2026 City Commission meeting for consideration.

Declaration Recognizing June as a Month of Respect, Inclusion, and Community for All
Residents
the City of Winter Springs is committed to fostering a community where all residents are treated with
dignity, respect, and fairness; and
, Winter Springs is home to individuals and families of many different backgrounds, beliefs, experiences,
and perspectives who together contribute to the strength and character of our community; and
, June has historically been recognized across the United States as a time to acknowledge the experiences
and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals, including residents, business owners, veterans, first responders, educators,
public servants, neighbors, and families within our own community; and
, recognizing one another with civility and mutual respect strengthens community trust and reflects the
values of compassion, freedom, and neighborliness shared by many residents of Winter Springs; and
, this declaration does not establish or endorse any specific political viewpoint, event, or expenditure of
public funds, but instead affirms the City’s belief that every resident deserves to feel safe, welcomed, and respected in
our community;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Kevin McCann, Mayor of the City of Winter Springs, Florida along with a below signing commissioners do hereby
declare the month of June 2026 as:
“A Month of Respect, Inclusion, and Community”
in the City of Winter Springs and encourage all residents to continue fostering a spirit of kindness, understanding,
and mutual respect toward one another.
