H is departure creates a vacancy in the C harter posion of C ity C lerk. T he C ommission must appoint an individual to serve as I nterim City Clerk and establish their compensaon pursuant to S econ 4-10 of the C ity Charter (quoted below). "The city commission, aer receiving a nominaon from either the mayor or a commission member(s) shall, by a vote of not less than four (4) commission members, appoint an officer of the city who shall have the tle of city clerk. The city clerk's compensaon shall be established by the city commission. T he city clerk shall give noce of commission meengs to its members and the public, keep the journal of its proceedings and perform such other dues as are provided by this C harter, by the commission or by law. The city clerk may be removed by a vote of not less than four (4) commission members." The I nterim C ity C lerk will oversee the funcons of the office unl such me as the C ity C ommission names a permanent appointee. F ollowing direcon from the C ity C ommission, staff has adversed the posion and is currently accepng applicaons to be reviewed and presented at a later date. FUNDING SOURCE RECOMMENDATION Staff requests the Commission appoint an individual to serve as Interim City Clerk beginning May 16, 2026 and establish the Interim City Clerk's compensation. 214
