Fire Marsha�'s Office � _/ Service Instructions for swing check valve with full floating clapper assemblv ' The swing check valve has been designed with a serviceable clapper assembly that can be serviced with the valve left in place. Service would only be required in the event of seat failure or an obstruction caused by the . introduction of foreign material in the water way. To service the FPPI Swing Check Valve with Full Clapper Assemply, shut off the water supply at its' source. Drain water from the system. As a safety precautiorr, it is recommended that the oontrol valve for the water supply be marked so as to notify all personnell that the system is being serviced and that the water has been shut-off until repairs have been completed. " Once the system is drained, it is safe to remove the access cap from the swing check valve with an adjustable wrench. Use appropriate care when removing the cap as to not cause damage to the aocess cap or the valve body.Once the cap has been removed the clapper assembly will be in plain view. Simply lift the clapper assemply from is resting place. Before installing the replacement clapper assembly, visually inspect the machined seat surface of the valve to make sure that is ciean and free of any foreign materials and that the water ways at each end of the valve are clear of obstruction. To install the repfacement clapper assembly, reinsert the new assembly in the same fashion that the origianal was removed. Make sure the replacement clapper assembly is properly seated and swings freely. Replace access cap. Tighten the access cap until fully seated. It is recommended that a small amount of thread sealant such as PipeFit Thread Sealant with PTFE is used on the threads of the accsss cap. To assure �sture serviceability do not use anaoerbic or hardening thread sealants. � Visually inspect the area to make sure that all removed parts can be accounted for and the access cap has been reinstalled correcUy. The system can now be placed badc into senrice by opening the valve that controls the flow of water to the system. After the system has been pressurized, visually reinspect the check valve to make sure there are no apparent leaks. Service Instructions for swing check valve with full floating clapper assembly The swing check valve has been designed with a serviceable clapper assembly that can be serviced with the valve left in place. Service would only be required in the event of seat failure or an obstruction caused by the introduction of foreign material in the water way. To service the FPPI Swing Check Valve with Full Clapper Assemply, shut off the water suppfy at its` source. Drain water from the system. As a safety precaution, it is recommended that the control valve for the water supply be marked so as to notify all personnell that the system is being serviced and that the water has been shut-off until repairs have been completed. � Once the system is drained, it is safe to r�emove the access cap from the swing check valve with an adjustable wrench. Use appropriate care when removing the cap as to not cause damage to the access cap or the valve body.Once the cap has been r�emoved the Gapper assembly will be in plain view. Simply lift the clapper assemply from is resting place. Before installing the replacement clapper assembly, visually inspect the machined seat surface of the valve to make sure that is clean and free of any foreign materials and that the water ways at each end of the valve are cfear of obstruction. To install the repfacement cfapper assembly, reinsert the new assembly in the same fashion that the origianal was removed. Make sure the replacement clapper assembly is properly seated and swings freely. Replace access cap. Tighten the access cap until fully seated. It is recommended that a small amount of thread sealant such as PipeFit Thread Sealant with PTFE is , used on the threads of the access cap. To assure future serviceability do not use anaoerbic or hardening thread sealants. Visually inspect the area to make sure that all removed parts can be accounted for and the access cap has been reinstalled correctly. The system can now be placed back into service by opening the valve that controls � the flow of water to the system. After the system has been pressurized, visually reinspect the check valve to make sure there are no apparent leaks. Notify appropriate personnel that the system is back in service. � .
