REQUEST:
Information Services wishes to update the commission on
the issue of electronic billing services.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this item is to update the commission on the capability to
send utility bills electronically to those who would like to receive their
bills in that format, rather than in paper format.
CONSIDERATIONS:
Please note that this item was not included on the I.T Strategic Plan by the
City Commission.
Electronic billing is the capability for the City to send out a bill, in this
case a utility bill, electronically instead of printing it, stuffing it into an
envelope, applying postage, and mailing the bill to the customer.
Electronic billing would mean that the customer could receive the bill via
email or download the bill from the billing website; no paper.
The City uses Munis as their utility billing software. Mums does not
currently have electronic billing capabilities. Information Services has
submitted this to Munis as an enhancement request. An enhancement
request does not guarantee that the request will be implemented.
However, Munis reviews all enhancement requests monthly and a status or

decision letter is mailed back to the requestor with their decision which
could be one of the following:

· . Will be done in a future release (sometimes dates or release numbers
are specified, sometimes they are not)
. No commitment - this means that they are not committing one way or
the other but might look at it at a later date.
