REQUEST:
The Parks and Recreation Department would like to inform the City
Commission of the status of the Central Winds Park Expansion.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this item is to inform the City Commission of the status of
the Central Winds Expansion.
CONSIDERATIONS:
. On June 28, 2004, Commissioner Blake asked staff to bring information regarding the
status of the Central Winds Park Expansion.
. On September 9,2002, the City Commission was informed that the estimated costs per
Phase I which consisted of Permitting, Design and Engineering, Clearing and Grubbing,
Leveling, Sod and Irrigation, were $ 250,000 from remaining Bond funds for
development. They were also informed that the estimated costs for Permitting, Design
and Engineering, Clearing and Grubbing, Leveling, Retention, Paving, and Landscaping
for the Central Winds Park Boulevard were $ 300,000 from I-Cent sales tax.
CENTRAL WINDS PARK EXPANSION:
. To date $ 517,525 has been expended from remaining Bond Funds and FRDAP Grant
#4 & #5 for Permitting, Design and Engineering, Surveying, Clearing and Grubbing,
Grading, Piping, Pump Station, and Equipment.
. Remaining expenses are preliminary estimated at:
Irrigation $ 80,000
SoddinglSpriging Sea-Isle Paspalum $ 250,000
Ball-field Clay $ 30,000
4 backstops $ 60,000
*Playground renovation & Bike Trail $ 100,000
Contingency $ 29,255
Total $ 549.255
*
The playground renovation and bike trail funding will be adjusted depending on
the actual costs of the other four listed projects. But some element is needed to
meet FRDAP # 6 grant requirements.

TOWN CENTER/CENTRAL WINDS PARKWAY
. To date $ 276,263 has been expended or encumbered for Permitting, Design and
Engineering, Surveying, and Storm Water Piping.
. Remaining expenses are Roadway Construction preliminary estimated at $ 400,000.
All funding is from I-Cent sales tax.
. The Continuation of the Parkway through the Central Winds Park Passive area and down
the Wincey Property to 434 is not yet budgeted.
