REQUEST: Public Works Department and the City Arborist are advising the City
Commission on current progress of George Street landscaping improvements.
PURPOSE: This agenda item is to update the Commission on current status of the
Beautification of Winter Springs Advisory Board project for landscape
improvements along George Street.
CONSIDERA TION:
· The Beautification of Winter Springs Advisory Board has recommended a plan consisting
of (16) trees, which will eventually provide a 'tree buffer' between SR 419 and homes
along George Street. Trees specified for this project are:
o 10 - Laurel Oak (5-6' tall)
o 6 - Winged Elm (4-5' tall)
· Currently, no irrigation systems have been installed in the project area located on George
Street. Therefore, all trees will be sustainable' drought tolerant' material and shall be hand
watered for an acceptable establishment period.
. Project to be completed by April 23rd, 2004.
· The residential parking issue will be brought back for consideration within (60) days.
