The following document was given to the City
Clerk on 2/ 10/03 by Gene Lein under "Public
Input".
Time and time again, the pettiness and small-mindedness of one our Commissioners is
brought to the forefront, by slinging mud again against a City resident.
Commissioner Ed Martinez, in the February issue of the "Tuscawilla Today", belittles
and defames me, once again. This time, I, as an appointed member of the Paw Park
Advisory Committee, presented, on behalf of the Committee, one possible short-term
solution to getting the dog pazk started sooner. This would come in at 1/10' the cost of
the permanent initial stage of the project.
Martinez, once again, takes the opportunity to use me as the whipping boy for his
unrelenting attacks on People For Good Government.
He brings up the Class Action lawsuit against the City and the Tuscawilla Lighting
District. Once again, Mr. Martinez, you are fully awaze that it was a Class Action suit---
not my suit! You know that, yet you persist in using my name to further your vendetta
against PFGG. Your statement in the "Tuscawilla Today" had to do with Paw Park, yet
you brought up the lawsuit and even the respite center! You can't even stay on topic!
• You complain that anyone in the region could use the park, at the expense of the
taxpayers. Yes, just like Central Winds Pazk can hardly be used by the residents of
Winter Springs, who are paying for it over and over again. Wasn't it you, Commissioner
Martinez, who voted for the batting cages to be placed in close proximity to a private
home and then voted to spend $50,000 to remove them? Didn't it cost another $70,000
or so to have them placed in Central Winds Pazk?
Once again, instead of reading my statement fully, (in particular, pazagraph 3), you aze s
blinded by your pettiness, and put your name to a writing that is full of libelous
statements against me.
One would always hope that a sitting Commissioner could be intelligent enough to put
his personal feelings aside when he steps onto the dais. Sadly, Mr. Martinez, you are
unable to do so. Your remarks and rambling writings only show how deep your hatred is
ingrained.
Your inference that people like myself, who. would, to quote your statement," persistently
represent the downgrading of our community and to negatively impact the interests of the
majority", is a blatant attack on my integrity. Your continued behavior only belittles the
very Commission on which you sit.
In this regazd, I have amassed all of your writings against me, and, at the proper time,
will call on you to answer your unfactual chazges.
