REQUEST: Information Services requests Commission authorization
for an additional appropriation in the amount of $9,825 for
phone system upgrades.
PURPOSE: To obtain additional appropriation in the amount of $9,825 to upgrade
phone system hardware/software.
CONSIDERATIONS:
Phone system upgrades are necessary periodically in order to maintain maintenance
agreements and to obtain technical assistance when necessary. We were not scheduled to
do any phone system upgrades until FY 2007. However, we have recently experienced
issues with our phone switch, voice mail system and console which require an upgrade in
order to resolve. The upgrades necessary are as follows:
Mitel SX 2000 Lightware 31 to be upgraded to Lightware 34
Mitel OpsManager Lightware 6.6 to latest release
Mitel Super Console 700 to Super Console 2000 Attendant Console
Mitel Nupoint Messenger 7.0 to release 8.5

This is an unexpected expenditure for this fiscal year. However, it cannot wait until FY
2007. Our current vendor, Orlando Business Telephone Systems, Inc., will be completing
this project for us.

Water/Sewer Utility Fund Reserve (30%)
Development Services Fund Reserve (30%)
General Fund Reserve (40%)

RECOMMENDATIONS: That the Commission approve an additional appropriation in the
amount of $9,825 from appropriate fund balance reserves as listed above.
Note: It is recommended that this project be completed before
attempting to move the City Operator to City Hall.
