Regular Meeting
Authorization
Dept.
REQUEST: The City Manager requests the City Commission ratify waiving of fees for
temporary political signs which need to be permitted for the upcoming Election.
PURPOSE: The purpose for this Agenda Item is to confirm waiving fees for temporary
political signs for the November 7,2006 Municipal Election.
CONSIDERATIONS:
1. Similar to other cities, the City is experiencing an onslaught of temporary
political sign po stings as the November general election is approaching.
2. The City has, in recent years, waived permit fees for political signs.
3. However, there is still a permit requirement for large political signs in order
to confirm compliance with building code requirements, including wind load.
These signs are typically more than 6 square feet in area and require, usually,
wooden structural supports.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Commission is being requested to waive the permit fee requirements for
temporary political signs for the November 7, 2006 Municipal Election.
