REQUEST:
The Parks and Recreation Department wishes to inform the City Commission
about the schedules for the Winter Springs Special Events
PURPOSE:
To purpose of this item is to inform the City Commission about the schedules
of upcoming Special Events.
CONSIDERATIONS:
· The Parks and Recreation has established the schedules for the Hometown Harvest, Holiday
Tree Lighting, Holiday Parade and the Holiday Philharmonic Orchestra. Also the Scottish
Highland Games and the Father Daughter Dance.
Saturday, November 18th
Holiday Tree Lighting @ the Town Center from
6:00-9:00 PM
Sunday, November 19th
Holiday Parade beginning at Winter Springs Elementary
School on State Road 434 at 2:30 PM
Saturday, December 2nd
Orlando Philharmonic Concert at Central Winds Park
Instrument Zoo at 4:30 PM and Concert at 6:00 PM
Saturday, January 20th
Scottish Highland Games at Central Winds Park from
9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Friday, February 9th
Father Daughter Dance at Civic Center from
7:00-9:00 PM

Holiday Festival Events
The City of Winter Springs proudly announces their upcoming Holiday Events Schedule for the
weekend of November 18, 19th, and Dec. 2, 2006. The weekend events begin on Saturday, November 18
with a Tree Lighting Ceremony, which will take place at the Winter Springs Town Center. The Tree
Lighting will feature a displayed tree in the Town Center with Holiday lights and decorations. In addition, the
Indian Trails Middle School Chorus and the Winter Springs Elementary School Chorus will be on hand to
perform. The Tree Lighting activities will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The 25th Holiday Parade will take place on Sunday, November 19 beginning at Winter Springs
Elementary School on State Road 434 running east to the Village Market Plaza. The parade start up time is
scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and is expected to have over 70 entries, which include representatives from Sport
Teams the Orlando Magic, Orlando Predators and Daytona Cubs as well as Winter Springs High School and
Masters Academy Marching Bands, Representatives from University of Central Florida, Sea World, several
non profit organizations and area churches. The large variety of entries makes our parade one of the best in
Central Florida. There will be indeed plenty of candy being distributed to everyone whom attends. On hand
as Master of Ceremonies will be the Holiday Radio Network, Magic 107.7 FM
On Saturday, December 2nd, Conductor Andrew Lane and the Orlando Philharmonic 56 Piece
Orchestra will present a Holiday Pops Concert at beautiful Central Winds Park. Get into the spirit of the
season with favorite holiday music including White Christmas; ballets from the Nutcracker and many of the
Season's favorites. There will be special guest vocalists joining the Philharmonic, as they too will add to the
Holiday Concert. At 4:30 PM, there will be an Orchestra Instrument Petting Zoo, which will allow the
opportunity for Music Enthusiasts to learn more and try orchestra instruments. In addition, local artists and
food vendors will be displaying and selling their products. The Holiday Concert is schedule to begin at 6:00
PM and parking is available at Central Winds Park and the surrounding areas. Following the concert, there
will be a Firework Display featuring an array of colors that will symbolize the Holiday Season. Bring a
blanket and chairs and enjoy this wonderful Holiday Concert with friends and family. You will be sure to
catch the spirit of the Holiday Season!
