REQUEST: Public Works Department Updating the City Commission on the Status of
the Town Center Roads project.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to update the City Commission on the progress
of the Town Center Roads project for March 2002.
CONSIDERA TIONS:
Attach~d is the March 2002 monthly progress report for the Town Center Roads
project. The project was awarded to Esterson Construction at a cost of$1,883,215 and
includes the reconstruction and construction of Tuskawilla Road and Hickory Park Grove
Boulevard and their associated drainage, utilities, and brick pavers on Tuskawilla Road.
The Notice to Proceed was issued on February 5, 2002 with a completion date of
November 2, 2002.

MONTHLY PROGRESS REPORT

The following items reflect the current status of work complete for the above listed project:
1. The retention pond excavation has begun. Currently, the Contractor is approximately
sixty percent complete with the excavation. Once the excavation is complete, the
. Contractor shall begin final grading on the side slopes.
2. Site striping and clearing has been completed in the area of the proposed retention pond
and along the entire length of Hickory Grove Park Road (both travel lanes ) as well as a
small portion of clearing at the intersection of Hickory Grove Park Road and Tuskawilla
Road
3. A portion of the road center line and the back of curb has been staked out for Hickory
Grove Park ROCld.
4. The City, CPH and Esterson Construction have had a meeting with Scott Stegall of the
Seminole County School Board, to discuss the proposed work schedule for Tuskawilla
Road. The School Board was informed of the road work for Tuskawilla Road and of
possible lane and road closures along the Road.
5. The City has set up a meeting with the Homeowners Association for the residents on
Tuskawilla Road and the residents on Orange Avenue to discuss the construction for
Tuskawilla Road. The tentative date for this meeting is April 4, 2002 and will be held in
City Chambers at City Hall.
6.
To date there have been no submittals for change orders. CPH Engineers has reviewed
the first pay request and has determined that there will be at a minimum two change
orders for the project. The change orders will be submitted on each individual item for
which there will be overages beyond the original contract.

7. The final paving design for Tuskawilla Road is to have brick pavers the entire length of
the proposed work area for the road. This was part of an additive alternate for this
project.

The following items are items that are in progress:
The locations of the right-of-way and utility easement areas along the east side of
Tuskawilla Road have been drafted by Tinklepaugh Surveying. Tinklepaugh is
currently drafting the legal descriptions written. This will be forwarded to the
--
Engineer once completed.
2 The location and description of the additional right-of-way along the south an?t east
side of Hickory Grove Park Road and along the west side of Tuskawilla Road at SR
434 have been completed. The descriptions have been forwardEld to Tinklepaugh
Surveying for their review and conformation.
3 The power line and panel box at the radio tower north of City Hall still needs to be
relocated.
4 CPH is still waiting for a revised cost estimate for the revisions to the plans at the
intersection of Hickory Grove Park Road and SR 434.
5 CPH is still waiting for a cost estimate for a proposed force main to be installed from
the south side of SR 434 to the first sanitary sewer manhole on Hickory Grove Park
Road.
