Authorization
REQUEST: Public Works Department Requesting Authorization for Asphalt Restoration for
the Underdrain Installation Project.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this Board item is to request authorization to utilize Orlando Patch and
Seal to perform the asphalt restoration on the Underdrain installation project at a cost
of$13,500.
CONSIDERATIONS:
This agenda item is needed for the timely restoration of the asphalt in areas where
underdrains have been recently installed. Originally, the Public Works Department was
planning on performing the asphalt restoration using staff However, due to the Public Works
staff vacancies and the labor time needed to install approximately 75 tons of asphalt, we were
unable to complete the project in a timely manner without having a detrimental impact to our
core functions.
The areas in where the work was performed include Trotwood Boulevard and Glen
Eagle Drive. The actual quantities used slightly exceeded the estimated quantities which
caused the value of the work to exceed the Managers authorization of$12,500. The Public
Works Department is requesting the Commission authorize the City Manager to approve
expending $13,500 with Orlando Patch and Seal for asphalt restoration.
