REQUEST:
The Community Development Department, Urban Beautification Services
Division, wishes to update the City Commission on the status of National
Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program applications.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this item is to update the City Commission on the status of
the grant applications.
CONSIDERATIONS:
. On February, 142005, the City Commission approved submission of Forestry Grants for
partial funding of the recently created Urban Forestry Worker Position and for the
purchase of a vehicle and equipment for the Urban Beautification Division.
. On April 29, 2005, Staff was provided the following status on the grant applications:
o Urban Forestry Vehicle and Equipment - Approved grant for $7,500.00 toward
2006 Ford F150 truck for the Urban Beautification Services Division.
o Urban Forestry Worker - Approved grant of $12,000.00 for one year with a match
of $20,000.00 from the City of Winter Springs. Funding for up to (1) additional
year will be available, if selected. This grant was also previously awarded to the
City o/Winter Springs in the amount 0/$16,000.00.
FUNDING:
The City of Winter Springs match will come from Urban Beautification Services Division
Salaries Line Code (1525-51210) for the Forestry Worker Grant and the General Fund for the
Urban Forestry Vehicle.
