REQUEST: Community Development Department is advising the City
Commission that the City of Oviedo has scheduled a Land Planning Agency public
hearing for Thursday, March 7, 2002, to consider a PUD Future Land Use (FLU)
designation for the potential location of a hospital in Oviedo.
PURPOSE: This agenda item is to update the Commission on the City of Oviedo's progress
toward the location of a hospital in Oviedo.
CONSIDERATION: At the January 28,2002, Commission meeting, the Commission, upon a
request from Commissioner Blake, directed the City Manager to advise Oviedo of the
Commission's interest in a joint meeting to discuss how the two cities could work together in
locating a hospital in Oviedo. The City Manager subsequently contacted Oviedo City Manager
Gene Williford who advised that he would determine if and in what way Winter Springs might
be of assistance. The City Commission was advised of this via February 11, 2002, City
Commission informational Agenda Item "D."
On February 27,2002, City staff received an intergovernmental notice regarding the March 7,
2002, Oviedo Land Planning Agency meeting agenda (please see attached). In a telephone
conversation between the Current Planning Coordinator and the Oviedo Planning Director,
Bryan Cobb, Mr. Cobb indicated that this parcel was annexed into the City of Oviedo about a
year ago and the applicant and City of Oviedo were merely changing jurisdictional FLU
designations. He further indicated that there is a development agreement for the site which is
proposed to remain substantively the same as what had been agreed to with Seminole County.
