Meeting
B:EQUEST: Utility Department Responding to the City Commission on the Water Main Size
for the Barrington EstateslBelfaire/Battle Ridge project.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to respond to the City Commission on the Water
Main Size east of the Greeneway.
CONSIDERA TIONS:
The City entered into a developer agreement for the Battle Ridge (now known as
Banington Estates) which restricted the oversizing of the utility lines. Subsequently, the City
annexed commercial property between Battle Ridge and the Greeneway. At that time it was
discussed that the 8" water main proposed for Battle Ridge would not provide the fire flow for
commercial development.

Additional properties to the east of Battle Ridge have since been annexed although
they have not been rezoned. During the final engineering for Battle Ridge, the developer had
no objection to increasing the water main size to 12" as long as the City paid for the
difference. This increase in size was memorialized in an addendum to the developer
agreement. The utility lines are currently under construction.
