REQUEST: The Fire Department requests that the City Commission review The City of
Winter Springs Employee Blood Drive information to be held at the Winter
Springs branch of Florida' s Blood Centers, 268 East SR 434.
PURPOSE: The purpose ofthis item is to assure that the City Commission is informed of all
the pertinent details regarding this activity.
CONSIDERATIONS:
. The donation of blood helps to assure an adequate and safe supply of blood and blood
products to the community.
. The employees ofthe City of Winter Springs have for 25 years maintained a blood
reserve account with Florida's Blood Centers. Last year when the blood drive was
scheduled, 41 participants attempted to donate blood.
. Employees are encouraged to donate blood and are given the opportunity to donate during
their workday.
. Other interested individuals may also donate blood during this scheduled time, and no
one will be turned away. This does include elected officials, friends, and neighbors.
. The goal for this drive has been set at 50 participants.

FUNDING:
No additional funding is required for this activity.
RECOMMENDATION:
DONATE BLOOD DURING THE WEEK
OF APRIL 24 THRU APRIL 28, 2006.
IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE:
Employees will be able to drop by at their convenience during this week. The blood bank hours
are Monday and Wednesday 9:00am until 5 :OOpm, Tuesday and Thursday 11 :OOam until 7:00pm,
and Friday 7:00 am until 3:00 pm.
