McLemore, City Manager City of Winter Springs 1126 East S.R. 434 Winter Springs, Florida 32708 Dear Mr. McLemore: I request the opportunity to address the City of Winter Spring's City Commission and thereby ask to be placed on an agenda for that purpose at the convenience of the Commission, your staff and yourself. I wish to address the Commission on the needs of the. citizens and the community of Winter Springs for additional recreational facilities. My wife, Katie, and I have been lucky enough to live in the City of Winter Springs, in the community of Tuscawilla, since 1990. We are raising our two children, Mary Kate, age 17, and William, age 12, who have actively participated in and supported sports teams and clubs in and around the Winter Springs community. From these experiences I've learned of the tremendous need for additional recreational facilities in the Winter Springs community. Also, I've been lucky enough to have worked with several of your very talented staff, Chris Caldwell and Chuck Pula, who have given me additional information regarding opportunities now available to the community, with the City's assistance. For example, in the recent past the City of Winter Springs Central Winds Park Expansion Ad Hoc and Advisory Committee, made up of City volunteers, submitted a report, which was acted upon by the Winter Springs Commission. The City of Winter Springs successfully expanded its already world class Central Winds Park as a result of this committee's hard work. That committee also included in its study a recommendation for a recreational center as well as for a swimming facility. Furthermore, Mr. Pula has indicated to me that the City recognizes a need for additional playing fields as well as a community center. And, of course, most recently the City has been approached with the opportunity to acquire and/or manage the Winter Springs Golf Course. All of these represent significant and important opportunities and challenges to the City. I would respectfully submit that all of these need to be considered together, rather than in a fragmented way. Mr. Ronald W. Mclemore February 20, 2006 Page 2 These projects cannot be accomplished without the extensive participation and financial backing of the City and the community. I stand ready to assist. I am confident many more in the community will also assist. As such, I would respectfully request you allow a small group of such concerned Winter Springs residents to make a brief presentation for discussion and action by the members of your Winter Springs Commission. We hope to lead the way, with the City Commission's help, towards achievement of these goals. Sincerely, STENSTROM, MciNTOSH, COLBERT, WHIGHAM, REISCHMANN & PARTLOW, P.A. William E.
